Women Helping Women
SCARBOROUGH HOUSE

SINCE 1985
Established - Respected - Mature
With a vision to serve the needs of recovering women and the support of Father Berard Scarborough and the Matt Talbot Inn, Scarborough House purchased a small lot with two homes in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. Scarborough House welcomed their first resident in July of 1985. Thereafter, Scarborough enjoyed support from the Junior League of Greater Cleveland and in 1990 made the decision to separate from the Matt Talbot Inn.
Since that time, the house has consistently operated under the guidance of a Board of Directors and a House Manager who are steadfast in the original vision to provide non-institutional recovery housing for women in recovery.
Today, Scarborough House meets the criteria for Level II under the levels defined by the National Association of Recover Residences (NARR) and adheres to the standards of care defined by ODMHAS and NARR. Scarborough is certified Ohio Recovery Housing.
Regardless of the changes that occurred over the past 34 years, Scarborough's vision to serve the needs of recovering women has remained the same, we maintain our commitment to assist residents to:
-
Develop the ability to interact in a group situation;
-
Cultivate a sense of responsibility towards themselves and others;
-
Discover their individual potential for growth and development; and
-
Learn to live independently.
